Public transport integration

Plans for Haymarket - City of Edinburgh Council

The Proposal is more than just a Cycle Route!  There are various improvements at Haymarket, our busy integrated transport hub.

  • New loading bays near the station benefit rail users being dropped off from a car.
  • Improvements to drop off and disabled facilities subject to review under a separate study.
  • Train users can “bike-and-ride” more safely using the new cycle route, which bypasses the busy, dangerous junction where there have been accidents in the past.  Existing dedicated cycle-parking stores 90 bicycles in the same space that 6 cars would use.
  • Although the main taxi has been relocated, it is only 38m further away (distance measurement from presentation by opponents of the Proposal).
